The CSBR, in partnership with The AbedGraham Group, recently hosted a roundtable discussion examining the critical relationship between cybersecurity and patient safety in the NHS. Held under Chatham House rules at Akamai Technologies’ London office, the event brought together senior representatives from government, healthcare, national security, industry and the civil service to explore one of the UK’s most pressing resilience challenges.

The discussion focused on the growing importance of cybersecurity as both a public health and national security issue, alongside the opportunities and risks presented by AI, health technology and data. Participants explored how stronger cyber resilience, effective data governance and trusted information sharing can help support safer healthcare services while enabling innovation. The roundtable also considered how these issues can be elevated within strategic and political decision-making, reflecting the increasingly interconnected nature of cyber resilience, public health and national resilience.
